How to use Mobe

Pat Conrey

Mobe is a desktop app you run while you stream.

1. Download and Install

Download Mobe from the link provided and choose the version that matches your platform. Check the system requirements and follow the installation instructions for your OS.

If you’re on Windows, you may need to bypass your system’s security warning. The app isn’t yet code-signed, which means Windows doesn’t recognize the publisher. You can safely proceed with the installation. We’ll be adding code-signing soon after the first round of feedback.

2. Log In and Onboard

Once installed, open Mobe and log in using your Moonbeam username and password. The onboarding process will help you set up:

  • Which microphone Mobe listens to
  • Where Mobe appears on your stream overlay

You can adjust these later, but the onboarding helps you get started quickly. During setup, you may need to grant microphone access.

3. Explore the Homepage

After onboarding, you’ll land on the Homepage, which shows your profile image and username. To test Mobe, click Start at the bottom of the page.

4. Use the Heads-Up Display (HUD)

Once you click Start, you’ll enter the HUD. This page has several useful features, but for now, click Start Session to begin streaming audio from your selected microphone to Mobe.

Say “Hey Mobe!” to test it out.
Mobe’s latest response will appear in the darker box on the HUD, and previous messages will stack above in a chat-style feed.

If Mobe isn’t responding, try speaking closer to the mic and check whether a pair of headphones appears on Mobe’s face. If not, there may be a microphone issue. Pause the session, open Settings, and verify your selected microphone and permissions.

5. Add Mobe to Your Stream

To show Mobe on your stream, go to the Settings page and copy the Browser Source URL. Then:

  1. Open OBS (or your streaming app).
  2. Add a new source: Browser Source.
  3. Paste Mobe’s Browser Source URL into the URL field.
  4. Set the dimensions to 1920 x 1080.
  5. Click OK and scale as needed so that the overlay covers your entire canvas.

If you don’t stream in a 16:9 aspect ratio, let us know. Mobe’s position may need adjustment, and we'd like to learn more about your use case!

You can change where Mobe appears by selecting a region in the Placement Input on the Settings page. Each placement generates a new Browser Source URL, so you can use different ones for different scenes in OBS.

6. You’re All Set

That’s it! Mobe should now appear on your stream and respond when you talk.

If you run into any issues, reach out. We’ll help you get everything sorted.
